Pink Poppy Unfolds

Another poppy this time-pink. This poppy plant rarely produces more than one flower and this year was no exception. The pink flowers seem to bloom shorter than the red ones. Usually I am only able to study them while they are unfolding. I still find their fragility beautiful. Painted in oils on a 9" X 12" linen canvas.

Cigar Box With Apples

In this still life, I enjoy the cool blues and splashes of red with the apples and cigar box. The enamelware coffee pot was in a neighbors barn.

Ella

This is a drawing of one of my sister's grandchildren. I enjoy drawing children from photographs because photographs tend to capture great unforgetable moments! Children are so busy-it's fun to draw little fingers and toes and the unique ways they smile, laugh or giggle.

Caretaker at the Old Mill

Some paintings seem to dictate whether or not they are finished. Such was the case with this painting. I took it as far as I could months ago, but it didn't seem "quite right". A few weeks ago I added this figure and the snow squall. Finally, it fell into place.
